A powerful way to understand the mechanics of an asana, its depth and beauty, is through touch. For teachers, being able to offer assists to practitioners provides a unique way of communicating the teaching which can accelerate students path to a deeper state of consciousness and health. As a practitioner, spending some time learning how to assist an asana can offer new insight into the poses and deepen one’s practice.
In this workshop we will cover a framework for how to approach assisting, discuss how it can be learned over time and then focus our practical learning on a variety of asana categories, including standing, twisting and floor asanas. Focus will be on how to observe alignment, breath, and energy and how to enhance each of these aspects of an asana through an assist. We will also discuss the importance of maintaining good alignment and physical and energetic grounding while offering assists.

The aim is to have a mutually beneficial experience that gives the practitioner a feeling of depth, safety, release and even healing with every touch.
