This pranayama class will give the student a solid foundation of the variant breathing techniques. We will learn and study the physical actions involved in the breathing process; such as lungs, diaphragm, nostrils etc. On a deeper level we will explore the subtleties of the breath such as the 4 parts of one full breath, the soothing and calming effects on the nervous systems and along the path the positive changes of mental attitudes toward the self and life.
In time we become aware of the sanctity within and without. Through a mind and skillful breathing practice, all internal systems are positively influenced and balanced. The immune system gets stronger as we consciously nourish the blood with fresh oxygen, the rhythm and sounds of the breath calm the nervous systems and a sense of well-being infuses. The quality of the asanas/postures evolves; the reflective and meditative states of consciousness while being attentive to the breath consequently show us the way to a stress reduced and ultimately stress free life. Class ends with a 15 minute meditation.
